THIS IS A WORTHWHILE READ: SURVIVAL GUIDES

The following is a fun experience by Lukas P. he set it up as he said the following:”Ok, so the reoccurring topic here is having my friends visit me ha-ha! I had gone out with a scouting group, and I was technically their responsibility. They checked up on me twice on day two to make sure I had not died and to check out my shelter! They gave me no assistance in my survival for that weekend :) hope that clears some things up.”

I’d advise you not to try this at home! Or maybe you could if you have a large enough back yard. The area Lukas was in apparently allowed open fires. And his comment about “bear spray” is interesting. If you are in a wilderness area, which is really wilderness there are a number of wild animals like bears ands wolves that will eat you. Pepper spray may discourage that, but I’d feel more comfortable with a gun. Also this is a weekend experience, how would you do for a little longer where you would have to feed yourself by hunter-gathering skills?

Anthropologist have determined that hunter-gathers in the warmer parts of the world were sustained by the females in the tribe who were gatherers, the male hunters brought in the occasional game, not enough to survive. In the northern climes hunter-gatherers of the past and many people who live there today live primarily on game meat.

Now I know people who are raised hunting and gathering can do it, but that does not mean they live an easy life, there is in fact always the possibility of dying suddenly in various ways. I’d be curious if any of you city slickers out there have tried surviving in a wilderness on purpose or by accident and how did you fare?
